This is the Thistle Platform about 35 years ago. The little ship alongside is one of the Stirling Shipping platform ships. They really looked as if they should not have been allowed to go that far north, but despite the fact that they were mostly under water some people preferred them because they were easier to manoeuvre due to the reduced windage. The Thistle Platform was one of the many developed in the North Sea in the 1970s. It was photographed through the smoked glass shades on the bridge of the Star Capella.

Photo taken in 1982 and posted here on 27th June 2017.
