People going on holiday to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands can see that there are one or two unusual looking ships moored out there in the harbour, one of them being the drillship the Stena Forth. This ship is now nine years old, but of the latest spec, with DP Class 3 which involves completely duplicated systems including two engine rooms and space for 180 people. Drillships are often favoured for deep water work due to their carrying capacity, but as monohulls are not quite as effective in adverse weather as semi-submersibles.
