Back in the 1970s when good ships were hard to find in the North Sea one or two vessels which were intended to fulfil the role of inter island ferries were recruited, principally because of their manoeuvring capability. This one, the Inagua Surf had been built in America in 1975, and must have left the yard and gone straight to work in the oil fields. As you can imagine, they were an unusual sight, particularly with their two wheelhouses. What did they contain? I have tried to find out exactly why it was suitable for the work, but despite the fact that it is still our there as the Oceanic 1, I have been unsuccessful.
