The Seven Arctic and in the background the Seven Navica at the Greenhead base in Shetland. This ship - I'd almost be inclined to call it a "super ship" was built in 2017, and is provided with ammost everything that could be required for offshore construction including a 1000 ton crane and accommodation for 132 people. I also has storage for 7000 tons of flexible under deck and has a 2600 m2 open deck area.
I like purposeful looking small craft, and here is one. The Sistec Vitoria, which is an air diving ship operating in the Lula Field out there in Brazilian waters. It looks like a distant relative of the Damen FCS crew boat. The company website does not choose to tells much about it except that is a wonderful craft, but obviously it has multiple communication systems and is probably DP2. I ws once master of an air diving ship. The divers hated actually having to dive. I wondered why they didn't go and so something else.
I find that I am not quite keeping up with Pic of the Day as I have been doing for the last few years, because I am engaged in the development of a new book about marine support to the offshore industry, and it is taking up quite a bit of my energy.; However, here is the FPSO P50 which was positioned out in a Brazilian field in 2006, when it was photographed. I searched the internet to find out what I could about it, but there was little. However I could see that it is a static mooring with five anchors from each bow and five from each side of the stern, making twenty moorings in all. The one bit of information related to an incident that occurred in September this year, Petrobras reporting that "not to worry" it has 15 moorings left!
