Thumbing back through my archives I find the Cedar River, a small platform ship owned back in the day by Trico and, you could say, fairly typical of the out of date tonnage used a lot in the Gulf around the turn of the century when this photo was taken. I used to get an OPL catalogue of offshore vessels and turned to the 2005 edition which told me the ship had been built in 1975, had been owned by a couple of other companies and was powered by two Cats developing a collective 2200 bhp. It had a crew of seven.
Back at the beginning of last year various magazines and periodicals were having one of their occasional goes at highlighting safety or accidents or investigations, or whatever.
Here is the Moss 424 anchor-handler A.H.Camogli owned by the Italian company Rimorchiatori Riuniti, working in the Marlim Field offshore Brazil, with the FPSO Petrobras Thirty something in the background, looking just like an old tanker with stuff stuck on the deck, which is, of course, exactly what most of them are. The ship is a moderately sized anchor-handler, one of a number of identical units owned by the company, most of them working in Brazil.
