The CBO Manoella was in the subsea news last years when it was converted from a standard PSV into an ROV ship. The ship is one of nine UT 715s, a unique design operated by CBO out in Brazilian waters. It has a Rolls- Royce crane capable of operating at water depths of 3000 metres which can be fitted either with wire or fibre rope. There seem to be a lot of ROV ships out there as well as numerous pipelayers. What can they all be up to? For those who might not be familiar in very deep water the weight of the crane wire becomes significant - hence the need for fibre.
