The MT6012 appeared in 2009 as a substantial platform ship with more than 1000 m2 available and powered by four engines offering more than 11,000 bhp. A substantial ship then. The appear to have been five of this ship type built, mostly for Greatship India. The photograph taken by Jan Plug shows one of the ship types with a derrick on the afterdeck, maybe indicating that it has a job coring. This is a job usually required to determine the soil qualities of the seabed before putting a jack-up on the location.
