Photo of the Bourbon Arctic at work recently by Scott Crookes.

I had intended to run through all the available models of each design house, but have decided to take a random shot at what is available and what the Ships and Oil contributors have seen. Hence here is the ;latest from VARD, the VARD 2 12 Arctic, an anchor-handler intended to be able too operate in ice strewn waters. It is a big ship, 95 metres long with accommodation for 60 people in single and double cabins (Americans take note) and with a 500 tonne SWL work winch, plus a lot of storage space for wire chain and rope. It has 25000 bhp avail able. The bollard pull is variously presented as 307 tonnes in"Boost mode" and 175 tonnes in diesel electric mode without the use of the azimuthing thruster.

The ship was finished at Vard Brattvaag and delivered in February 2016.
