So just for balance, having featured a British 1970s offshore vessel, here is an American one. This is the Gulf Raider built in Louisiana in 1974 at Halter Marine. It is a tug for those who might not recognise it, but much used in the Gulf for offshore activities. It had 7000 bhp available making it very powerful in its day. Y0u can still find it on various tug sites and now on this one. It went to the breakers in 2014 after 60 years of service.
