DOF features yet again on this site, but I could not resist this shot of the Skandi Olinda in the dark. This is the very latest flow line laying ship to arrive in Brazilian waters and is said to be a VARD 316. It is 140 metres long and can accommodate 120 people. It has 17,200 kW available provided by six engines which power 2 x 2000 kW bow thrusters, 2 x 1800 kW azimuthing thrusters and 2 x 3700 kW aziprops. It has a crane capable of working at a depth of 3000 m (seems like a lot). I note in the photo that the lights are on in the pilot house. We might wonder if this is a good thing.
