The Ocean Shore is a typical 1970s British anchor-handler. It was probably powered by two railway diesels. They were the only engines that would fit into the engine rooms and still provide decent power. Offshore Marine was a division of Cunard. OIL which was a division of Alfred Holt had a number of identical ships, the better ones powered by a couple of English Electric diesels providing a bit over 6000 bhp. They had a couple of fixed pitch propellers which took an age to get from ahead to astern, with a single Gill Jet forward. It took courage to drive these things close to offshore installations.
