Here is the Skandi Gamma, loading cargo in the River Dee the other day. This is an STX PSV which entered service in 2011 and it is another LNG powered ship. The arrival on the Bow in 2007 resulted in all the other offshore vessel designers sharpening their pencils and producing ships themselves which had some sort of an enclosed bow, requiring the guys on the forecastle to somehow tie the things up with himited space available for throwing the heaving line. As far as I can see the only owner to resolutely avoiding going in this direction is Maersk.
